Unlock Your Potential: 5 Steps to Identity Level Change with Hypnosis

What if there’s a quick, enjoyable way to change on an IDENTITY level?

 

For example: If a person feels like an addict… or like a depressed or anxious person. 

 

Or if a person has a fear or phobia about something like public speaking or heights, this technique works like magic. 

 

If a person has taken on the identity of “shy” or “anti-social,” that can become a thing of the past when you apply the 5-Step-Formula you’re about to uncover. 

 

I invite you to ask yourself, “How can I use this technique for the thing I’ve been struggling with?” then be amazed with the ideas that surface. 

 

One of the things you’ll love most about this technique is how it gets quicker and easier every time you do it. 

 

5 Steps to Identity Level Change

Before you begin, you must ask yourself, “When this problem is a thing of the past, how do I WANT to experience life? What will life be like?

 

You might be surprised that this question can be tricky to answer because most people have never thought about their problem this way. 

 

We’re often wrapped up in trying to NOT do the thing we don’t want to do… which actually keeps us focused on the problem and makes it MORE likely that we’ll continue to struggle. 

 

So after you’ve let yourself daydream for a bit about how good life will be when you’re free, you’re ready for the first step. 

 

CAUTION: Do not skip this step. ☝🏼

Now that you have clarity about what you DO want to experience, you can…

 

STEP 1: Empowering Question

Ask yourself, “Who would be really good at doing the thing I want to do?” 

 

Example: If a person wants to be a non-smoker, they would ask, “Who’s someone that doesn’t even think about cigarettes?”

 

Example: If a person is ready to step out of fear of public speaking they could ask, “Who loves to be on stage and is a confident, articulate speaker?” (I think of Tony Robbins.)

 

HINT: This can be a real person, living or not. Or it can be a fictional character from a movie or book. It can even be a cartoon character.

 

Step 1 is to identify that person. 

 

You might be relieved to know that this exercise lets you only take on the beneficial things you WANT about the person/character and leave behind anything you don’t want. 

 

STEP 2: Get up and MOVE

Walk across the room and look back at the place where you were just sitting or standing. 

 

Pretend the character you identified in Step 1 is standing or sitting in the spot you just walked away from. 

 

HINT: If you’re not a strong visualizer, that’s ok. You can just pretend the person is there. Bonus points for looking at that spot with an intrigued facial expression as a way of telling your body that you’re good at this. 

 

Step 3: Notice that person’s 3 B’s 

It is 100% ok to make this up if you’re not sure of the answer. 

 

The 3 B’s are…

 

Body Language: How are they holding their body? What is their posture like? What position are their shoulders in? What is their facial expression?

 

Breathing: How do they BREATHE when they are acting the way you want to act? (Remember: it’s ok to guess.)

 

Belief: This is just their self-talk or thoughts WHEN they are doing the thing you want to do. 

 

Example: Stepping onto stage, the person thinks, “This is going to be amazing! I love this!”

 

Example: A person who experiences a sense of well-being instead of depression or anxiety might think, “Life is good.” or “All is well”

 

HINT: Did you notice the simplicity of those beliefs? Do NOT use fancy, flowery affirmations. Keep your belief very simple because simplicity is the language of the subconscious mind… which is what we’re reprogramming.

 

STEP 4: Step inside

Walk over to the place where you imagine that person to be and pretend to step into their body. 

 

I know this is silly. 

 

And it’s ridiculously effective. 

 

Adjust your 3 B’s to match their 3 B’s. 

  • Your body language matches theirs.
  • You breathe the way they breathe.
  • Think the beliefs/thoughts they’re thinking when they behave in this empowered way.

 

Not “Fake it ‘Til You Make It”

It’s important to know that you are NOT “faking it til you make it.”

 

You are unlocking a part of you that knows how to behave this way. 

 

Maybe that part of you was just stuffed down before, and now you’re calling it to the surface. 

 

When we “play pretend,” we unlock subconscious resources that were hidden before. 

 

If you’ve TRIED to fix this before and failed, it’s because you tried with conscious efforts. You must tap into subconscious tools to access the part of you that was actually in charge of that old behavior you had. 

 

STEP 5: Future Pace

Next, you’re simply going to think about a future time when the problem would have been a problem. 

 

BUT…

 

You’re going to keep the powerful 3 Bs and FEEL AMAZING while you imagine the future. 

 

As you feel amazing, think about a future time when you’ll behave in an empowered way instead of the old way that didn’t serve you. 

 

Think about 2 or 3 times when that problem would’ve been a problem, but this time re-imgaine how you’ll behave now that you know how to easily step into this identity. 

 

HINT: If this is tricky, imagine how the person you stepped into would behave. Imagine them behaving that way in that situation. Then go in behind them and do the same thing. 

 

(Yes, you can.) 

 

You can also go into the past and RE-imagine yourself behaving in this empowered way instead of the way you behaved. 

 

This doesn’t change the past, but it allows you to re-code that obsolete “problem” behavior into empowering behavior from now on.

The Key to Success

This is a fun, empowering technique. 

 

One of the things you’ll love the most is that you get to do it over and over as a way of reprogramming the automatic part of you to make this shift from now on. 

 

After all, you got here by repeating an undesirable behavior over and over until it became automatic, so now you get to reverse engineer that proven process to program yourself for automatic success. 

 

Before you know it, you’ll be acting like the person you want to be without even thinking about it. 

 

And remember, you are not pretending or faking it. Every time you do this, you unlock and authentic part of you that knows how to be successful. 

 

Repetition Creates Speed

The first time you do this, it might take 1 or 2 minutes. 

 

Then, each time you repeat it, it gets faster and faster, and you get better and better at it. 

 

You can step into a new identity in moments when you think about the person who would be good at this and quickly adjust your 3 Bs to match theirs.  

 

Sometimes it’s as quick as just saying their name in your mind.
