Lightening fast, Hypnosis for Discouragement

I was having a terrible day...

I felt like life was pointless, and even a little hopeless.

The other day, when I felt like life was dumb and pointless, there was a little voice in my head that said,

 

"This is just a mood!"

 

But it felt so stinking real!

 

Instead of moving through my to-do list, I sat on the couch and watched TV.

 

I took a break between shows to look up our next Trancy Tuesdays group hypnosis topic.

 

It's about discouragement!

 

So here I was, WALLOWING in discouragement, and I'm supposed to guide others out of it!

 

I remembered Marie Forleo saying, "The quality of your questions determines the quality of your life."

 

So instead of saying, "What's the freaking point?" I asked, "What's an effective way to feel better quickly?"

 

That question tuned my brain to search for things I've learned that could help.

 

(Since I'm a hypnotist, I've learned lots of things that can help... I just don't always use them. 😂)

 

I remembered an NLP process that guides a person to float up above themselves and look down at their discouraged self down below.

 

(NLP is "waking state" hypnosis because it works SO WELL.)

 

As I sat on my couch, pouting, watching the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, I imagined looking at myself from up above.

 

DISCLAIMER: I am NOT a great visualizer. I finally learned that doesn't matter! I can simply imagine in a different way... without the visuals... and it works just as well.

 

As I pretended to observe myself down there, I got this beautiful gift.

 

PERSPECTIVE

 

Do you want a glimpse of magic right now?

Imagine that, right now, you could float up above yourself and observe yourself down there, reading this blog post. 

 

As you observe that you down there...

 

Notice the Body Language...

 

The breathing...

 

And from this safe, peaceful place up here, just notice, without judgment, the way that you down there is feeling

 

What thoughts are going through that "you's" head?

 

You’re doing well. 

 

From up here, YOU HAVE PERSPECTIVE.

 

You can observe that you, down there, from a place of neutrality. In fact, one of the coolest things about this PERSPECTIVE is how it lets you tap into the wisest part of you. 

 

You are accessing the part of you that knows things you don't know you know.

 

And as you float up here in this place of peace and perspective, you can just pretend to send yourself down there, anything you need.

 

If you need hope, send hope. (Just pretend you can and you’ll be amazed by how well it works.)

 

Maybe you choose to send encouragement, or energy, or peace.

 

From up here, you can access anything you need and send it to the you down below. 

 

Good, now observe yourself down there and notice, with curiosity, how your Body Language has shifted… perhaps you're breathing in a more empowered way

Even your thoughts have become more peaceful. 

 

Notice if there’s anything else that you down there needs, and send it… just imagine and pretend you can do it easily.

 

And when you’re ready, you can gently, peacefully, and safely drift back into your body down here. 

 

Notice how much better it feels to be in your body now.

 

Notice how much better it feels to be in this mind, now!

 

Pretty cool, right?

 When I did this the other day, it helped me step out of my grumpy, discouraged mood. In fact, later I surprised myself by humming a happy tune because I felt so much better.
