What if you are exactly where you are supposed to be?

If I had a dollar for every time I've heard the following, I would . . . have a LOT of dollars. 🤣

"I had so many plans I wanted to accomplish during lockdown and instead I've been stuck on the couch watching Netflix."

If this sounds like you, I want to ask you to do something for me. 

Will you imagine I'm here with you in person, looking you in the eye and saying, 

"Laura, I see you. You are not alone. You are exactly where you're supposed to be."

And I mean that. I believe everything happens for a reason. That may or may not be true but it has served me well to adopt that philosophy. 

Try this little experiment right now: 

  1. Close your eyes.
  2. Take a deep breath from low in your belly.
  3. Release it with a very long exhale - as if all tension is draining from your body. 
  4. Say to yourself, "I'm exactly where I'm supposed to be." 
  5. Notice how your body responds to your positive self talk. 

I don't know your specific circumstances. But what if this is all happening FOR you, not to you? 

Can you look back in the past and remember times that felt incredibly hard that made you stronger and more resilient? Just the fact that you're still here proves you're stronger than you think!

I wouldn't be surprised if you start to remember your own resilience throughout the day...

Every time something happens that used to throw you off, it's as if there's a little voice in your head saying,

"I am resilient."

"I am exactly where I'm supposed to be."

"This is happening for me - not to me."

And you are resilient, aren't you. 

Ok, just one more thing. This one is a little silly but I start most of my group hypnosis sessions this way and it's a beautiful experience. 

I dare you to play along. 

I'd like you to place your hands on your heart right now. 

Then imagine that you are sending a hug to everyone reading this email. Sending a hug to me. Sending a hug to all the people in this screwed up situation right now. 

Vividly imagine wrapping your arms around a loved one so that you hear them breathing, smell the way they smell, hear their voice.

And now, receive those hugs. Knowing that everyone reading this email is sending you love. 

I'm sending you love. 

I just closed my eyes and did this exercise too. 

We've got this ok? 

We ARE resilient.
